Today has been one of those days. One of those days when your precious little one hears your request and looks you straight in the face and disobeys... and the baby didn't sleep much last night.. and then there is this nagging cold.. and then I remember. Choose this day whom you will serve. Choose. For the last couple of weeks my littles and I have spent a few moments in the morning talking about choosing. "But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”Joshua 24:15When days get to going the way this one has I find it is I that needs the reminder more than they do. I encourage Moses and Sarah to STOP before they act and think. Are we using our words, our hands, our actions to bless? Are we choosing to serve the Good Kingdom? Are our actions grace filled? I pray the answer is yes. By Gods grace he enables us, allows us, to choose His way. The best way. I will be joining Ruth over at gracelaced.com in "Grace Laced Mondays". My mom came up last week and, being the genius that she is, brought snickerdoodle dough with her. The kids had a blast making them and I had a blast eating them. It worked out for all of us!

Later that week we headed to Albuquerque for a mini family vacation. We stayed with my Godparents we are so grateful for their hospitality - it is no small thing welcoming us into your home! We had a great time. We went to the zoo, Explora, Santa Fe, The St. James Tearoom... the only downside was that there wasn't time to see everyone we love.

Miah and I were so busy wrangling the crew that pictures were low on our list. Here are a couple of the ones we managed to get!

These days have been such a whirlwind. There was the time that Sarah was crying, Hannah was eating, Moses was spilling the Nesquick on the pantry floor.. and there was pee on the carpet, vomit all over Sarah... and one Mama. Then there are the smiles Hannah makes in her sleep, Sarah's silliness, Moses' sweetness.. These days are so wonderful, exhausting, frustrating, exhilarating, all in one. Can I get an amen?

I have been trying all sorts of things to keep Moses and Sarah occupied. A picnic with cheese crackers usually does the trick. Play Doh, coloring, and videos are way up on the list, too!

I can honestly say that I don't know where he learned this. I mean, sure, we sing the ABC's, but all of a sudden he just sings it all by himself. Have I mentioned that he also knows the entire Hebrew aleph-bet? And he can count to ten? And, and, and. I may need to go back to college before I'm ready to homeschool this little smarty pants!

After the easiest labor I have had yet, and the hardest round of pushing our newest little lady emerged into this world. All 9lbs 12oz and 21 inches of her. She and mama are healthy and we are headed home tomorrow to let her meet her big brother and sister. Here are a few pictures from our day.

Well, I have not been a good blogger. I've been too busy being grumpy, I think. This has not been my shining moment, folks. I think this season has served to highlight my deficiencies quite well thankyouverymuch.

My babies and my husband, however, are as wonderful as ever. I mean really. They are just such a delight.

Every Saturday we pack up and head to Berg Park.

I thought Moses was going to blow a gasket when we saw this fire truck on our walk. The fire department does white water training at Berg Park and this was Mo's lucky day!

And of course we are spending as much time outside as we can.

I swear she is having a good time.

I would like to take this opportunity to warn you all never to buy the off brand otterpops. The extra dollar really is worth it, in case you were wondering.

Babies + water = True love forever

Bonnie gave Moses this monkey for his birthday. It drinks milk, burps, hiccups, laughs.. oh and totally creeps me out. Moses, however, has suddenly become fascinated with the thing. He feeds it, burps it, then brings it to me to love one it. "Here, Mama, here!"

The waiting.

Waiting for my babies to be born is not easy. I admit, it was easier with the first two. This time, however, I was certain that #3 would make his or her arrival well before my due date. I just knew it. Yeah, that just about sums up my "mother's intuition"! Ha! I had not been nervous about the arrival of #3 because I had planned everything out. I have meals ready, my pantry is stocked, the essentials are loaded up on, and I had plenty of help lined up... but it all hinged on #3 coming a bit early, at least on time. As my plans began to unravel so did I.. just a bit. I called the midwife to ask about scheduling an induction, but that isn't a possibility at this point so I have been forced to take a step back and think about who is in control of this whole thing in the first place. It's not me, surprise, surprise. I have wrestled with scripture, knowing that it says that we can ask for anything and it will be given to us, but Jesus also says "not my will but Yours be done". Yesterday it was as if I found a place for my heart to rest:

"Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places, surely I have a delightful inheritance."

Psalm 16:5-6

I am not in control, but God is. Not only is he in control, but my lot is secure and so is my unborn child's. I was resting in knowing that I had help lined up for 6 weeks, but that is not God's plan this time around and his boundary lines for this pregnancy have fallen in pleasant places. I can smile at the future (Prov 31) because I rest in God's plan, not my own planning. Hallelujah.

This morning we went to Berg Park. It's a great place. We fed the ducks, went for a nice walk (come on labor!), and then the kids played in the water.

More and more often I find these two off playing by themselves. Reading books, playing cars, rolling balls back and forth. It is so much fun to watch their friendship develop, and to see how sweet and thoughtful Moses is to his sassy little sister. She really lucked out in the big brother department. He didn't do too shabby, either.

Preparing for Baby: Breastfeeding Addition

Breastfeeding and I have had our differences. Oh man. It was the hardest thing I had ever done next to birthing my son. Oh the pain, the agony, the moral conflict! I'm not kidding, either! When Sarah came along I had a few tricks up my sleeve to make those first few weeks easier, and now that we are waiting on #3 to make his or her arrival I feel pretty confident. Not that I don't think anything will go wrong or that there will be no bumps in the road, but I just know what to do this go around. Here are a few things I like to have on hand:

My boppy. Oh man, I love this thing. Not just for feedings, either!

If there are any Duggar's fans out there you may have seen Michelle using one of these to feed her babies. She just straps this thing on and walks around feeding the baby. Pretty amazing. They run about $35, but I scored one at Goodwill for $2.99. I'm excited to try it out.

Oh Soothies, how I love thee. They are so wonderful for those early days when you're so sore. AND, if you keep a glass of ice water nearby you can just stick these to the outside of your glass while you feed and when you put them back on it is sweet relief!

My wonderful lactation consultant gave me some of these. If you have any cracking or bleeding you can use these Medela Hydro Gel's. Kinda like Soothies, but these actually help you heal. Same kinda thing they use on burn victims, believe it or not.

Ah, my pump. This isn't a necessity, but I sure love mine! I have the Medela Pump in Style.

Dr. Jack Newman's All Purpose Nipple Ointment

Homies. If you have never heard of this stuff, listen up! This is my ace in the hole. I'm not kidding. I asked for the RX from my midwife before the baby was even born this time so I could have it in my bag at the hospital. It treats inflammation, yeast, and bacteria. If you are dealing with yeast, they can even up the amount of Miconazole in it to 3 or 4%. You can read all about it HERE.

Be prepared for your doctor or midwife to have never heard of this stuff, and I have even had to tell the pharmacy how to make it. Honestly, I can not recommend this stuff enough for those first two weeks! Also, your insurance may not cover it. Last time I had to dish out $35 for the stuff and it was worth every single penny and more!

Some other things I like to have on hand are nursing pads, a ton of different nursing tank tops and of course the number to a fabulous lactation consultant! If you life in my area and need an awesome LC (that is FREE no less!) just ask!

Here I am at 37 weeks and a couple of days. After I saw this picture I did something no pregnant woman should ever do. I got the measuring tape out. Forty five and a half inches around. That is three and three quarters feet. Around. Join me in a moment of silence. I would like to say that I am happy and glowy. Um, I'm not. I'm exhausted. I'm in pain. I pee constantly. The Braxton Hicks contractions have pulled out all the stops this go around and they are not just a "slight tightening". They hurt. Honestly, with the first two pregnancies I thought pregnant woman were kinda wimpy. It really wasn't that bad. This time, oh this time, I understand. Also, as I sat down to write this post I found the post from when I was 37 weeks pregnant with Sarah. You can read it HERE if you would like. This was what blew me away, though.

I did see the midwife last week and, thankfully, I am at 1cm. Not a whole lot else to report, but I can say I would like to go into labor next Tuesday right after my cleaning lady leaves. But I'd be cool with today, too.

And some happy gardening news, the gladiolus are finally blooming!!

Postpartum meal planning.

It is that time again.. time to stock up the freezer and pantry in preparation for the arrival of another little Hayes. Here is the basic list for this time. I will include a quick how-to and, if I can, a link to the recipe if you're interested!

Lasagna - I split a regular 9x13 of my favorite recipe into two 8x8 aluminum containers because we can't eat an entire 9x13. Works great! If you need a recipe, hit me up!
Goulash - This is just my grans basic recipe. You can find the recipe HERE.. super easy and the kids love it!
Enchiladas - This is another one that I split up into two 8x8's. My step-mom's recipe.. again if you need it just ask!
Chicken potato casserole
Chicken pot pie - HERE is the recipe. I make the chicken and veg mixture and freeze it in an 8x8. Thaw overnight. Then layer with about 6 sheets of filo (cooking spray between each layer) and bake.
Sweet soy chicken
Veggie pasta shells
Red and white tortellini
Burgers (boca burgers, too) - Confession: I used to make beef and turkey burgers and freeze them. Now I just buy them in bulk at Sam's club. Freeze the buns, too, and just pull them out as you need them.
Hotdogs - Hebrew Nationals, of course.
Meatloaf - Again, I think any recipe will work, but if you want mine just ask!
Beef barley soup
Spaghetti and meatballs - I buy beef meatballs in bulk and put them in the crockpot with spaghetti sauce.

I buy frozen and canned veggies and add them in to each meal as a side dish. I even buy frozen bread and dinner rolls to serve, too. This time I am also stocking up on some desserts and even some frozen Stouffer meals, too.

If you all have a favorite frozen meal recipe please let me know! I need some new ideas, especially some vegetarian options!!

31 weeks 5 days!

We had a little scare today so we packed up the kids and headed to the birthing center. After some fetal monitoring, an ultrasound, and some poking and prodding all things checked out okay. I'm so, so grateful that this little sweetie is healthy as can be! Also.. #3 is measuring at 5lbs 5oz.. as in as big as some full term babes. Ha! I say bring it. I love big babies. And epidural's. :)

Ahem.. let's just take a moment to say that I think people forget what a pregnant woman.. especially 7,8,9 months pregnant.. really looks like. I am not that much bigger than the first two go 'rounds. Sooo.. world.. let's stop telling me how huge I am.. comparing me to so and so.. and start joining in the excitement of welcoming a new little sweetheart into this world!

This time I'm excited.. not nervous.

I feel ready for labor (haha, ho, ha!).

We are having such a fun spring. When the weather is nice (and the wind is down) we are spending our time outside. The water table, sandbox, slide.. and okay occassionally my veggie beds are getting broken in again this year. The kids are having such a great time. As an additional bonus, all of this outside play has been causing long afternoon naps. It's a good thing.

One of my favorite thing about this phase of the garden is going out and seeing what is growing. It is so fun to spot a seedling popping up through the ground, little fruits ripening on the vine, and other plants I was unsure about seemingly thriving.

My wonderful mil let us transplant a ton of her raspberry bushes. It was a lot harder than I thought! Thankfully quite a few seem to be surviving.

The nursery is done! Well.. it has been done for weeks.. and I am just so grateful. I just need to wash the little sweeties clothes and put them away.. and find a place for the rocking chair. I'm pleased with the way it all came together! It is mostly Mo's old furniture and bedding. Yes.. the walls are still blue. If we have a little lady she is just going to have to deal with it until Mama works up the motivation to paint!

I have a feeling I am going to be spending a lot of time sleeping in this bed!

In an attempt to keep Moses from crawling up the bed, Miah taped the cardboard on the ladder. So far it's working!

And just for kicks.. here I am at 29.5 weeks. I'm measuring 2.5 weeks ahead. Did you hear that, little one? Please don't make me wait until August!!

A garden update!

I am so thrilled that spring is here and that it is gardening time once again. I love this time of year! Here is what's on the line up for this year:

Yellow squash
Zucchini
Sugar snap peas (so excited for these!)
Spinach and lettuce
Herbs (Basil, chives, oregano, parsley, chives, thyme)
Green beans
Cantaloupe
Watermelon
Strawberries
Raspberries (although they won't produce for a couple of years.. and I am so grateful that we got all of the plant as transplants from my wonderful mil)
Tomatoes
Corn (which will be growing along the back fence.. I think it will look really pretty)

And Stacey.. look at all those chives.. they are calling your name!

Here is something I am really excited about.. the clothesline! Jeremiah put it up for me and I am so thrilled to be able to hang the cloth diapers out to dry.

Oh! And the PVC pipe.. lovely though it is.. will soon be covered by dozens of sunflowers!

Coming up next.. the finished nursery and my rather large belly at 29 weeks! I sure hope this little sweetie isn't as late as Sarah and Moses!

Today was a hot one.. and with some time to kill before naps we decided to get out the slip in slide and let the kids go at it! We stripped them down, lathered them with SPF 100 (my kids are w-h-i-t-e) and let them lose. They had a blast, and so did Jeremiah and I!

My sweet Sarah turned one this weekend. One! I cannot believe it has been one year since she came into this world.

Simply Nesting: The final week.

This week the challenge wasn't to clean up my home.. but my heart. There has been a move in the Hayes household for some time now to simplify.. get rid of the unnecessary.. things that could distract us from what is truly important. In order to help Jeremiah and I cast a vision for what that would look like for our family we came up with what we are calling the "Hayes Home Halakah". Halakah simply means "the way that one walks". How do we want to walk? How do we want our children to walk? How do we want to encourage others to walk? One of the pillars of our halakah is 1 Thessalonians 4:11:

Make it our ambition to lead a quiet, simple life; working with our hands.

Though there are many ways we have done this, one of the ones that stands out in my mind is getting rid of the television. What I have found is that even if I choose the best programming possible, I cannot control everything that comes through that box into my home. At first, I admit, this was not something I was excited about. I went along with it because Jeremiah thought it was a good idea and he is much wiser than I am.. and I trust his judgement. Several weeks later I was watching TV at a relatives house and I was floored. Naked women bathing is the shower? Check. Victoria's Secret commercials? Check. Sexual innuendo's? Check. What was I watching? HGTV. I was learning about home renovations and also exposing my children to things I simply do not think they need to be seeing. And, let's be honest, if they don't need to see it.. do I?

Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

Phillipians 4:8

I still have to far to go.. This is just one way that we are simplifying our life and trying to set the right course for our family.. and in it all.. may God get the glory!

Simply Nesting: Making your own laundry soap!

I seem to do a TON of laundry. Anyone else? And with #3 on the way it will only increase. I'm not complaining.. I don't really mind.. although at times I have to step back in wonder at just how much laundry I can do each week. Awhile ago, when we started cloth diapering, I bought Country Save detergent in bulk on Amazon. It was inexpensive, easy on the environment, and I could use it both for the diapers and for our clothes. The thing is.. I didn't really like it for our clothes. It didn't seem to really get things clean enough for my liking. I was having a hard time stomaching the price of laundry soap, though. Cue the Duggar's. I love the Duggar's. A family that lives by their convictions, is debt free, and finds a way to be frugal at every turn - I honestly wish I could spend a few days with Michelle Duggar.. or that she was a neighbor.. so I could just watch their family in action. As I was reading through their book (which I totally recommend) I came across their recipe for clothes soap and decided to give it a whirl. (You can find their recipe HERE.) Within 20 minutes I was done and I had 10 gallons (yep, 10) of laundry soap. And, yes, this is for HE front loaders! Here is how I did it!

Ingredients for the actual soap:

1 bar Fels Naptha, grated (plain ol' Ivory works, too.. just nothing with perfumes or dyes)

4 cups hot water

1 cup Arm and Hammer washing soda (not baking soda, not A&H detergent!!)

1/2 cup Borax

Other necessities:

2 - 5 gallon buckets, plus lids (less than $3 a piece at Walmart)

1/4 cup measure

Soap dispenser (I used a water dispenser I picked up at Walmart, it was about $6)

How to:

Grate soap and add it into the 4 cups of hot water - stir over medium/low heat until dissolved. Fill your two 5 gallon buckets half full with hot water and put half of the soap water mixture in each bucket. Put 1/2 cup Arm and Hammer washing soda in each bucket, as well as 1/4 cup Borax in each bucket. Stir until it is all dissolved.

Because I'm kinda lazy I used a drywall-mixer-attachment-thing to stir it up.. and it worked great!

Fill with more water to the top of the bucket. That's it! At this point, I would recommend filling your soap dispenser up about half way.

FYI, homies: the soap kinda gels up so you have to shake your soap dispenser before each use and you have to stir up the 5 gallon buckets before you refill your soap dispenser. This is why I think it is best to just dilute the mixture when you make it (the Duggar's don't). Also, I still use Country Save for our diapers. I don't know if you can use this on your cloth diapers or not!

1 recipe of this stuff - 640 loads of laundry

1/4 cup of the soap per load.

This weekend we went to "Touch a Truck" at Mcgee park. It totally surpassed our expectations. Cranes, firetrucks, tractors, semi's.. you name it, it was there. The kids could climb in, honk horns, even talk over the loud speakers. It was fun (and LOUD!!). I was so glad we went.

Tomato-Tortellini Soup

This recipe will not earn me any awards for culinary innovation or high marks in the nutrition department, but it was ready in 15 minutes and we all (even the little people!) loved it! AND it's meat free and Jeremiah did not turn up his nose and ask for a burger. Delish.. I can't wait to make it again! (And I will.. Jeremiah asked if I would put in on the "rotation". See! It was a hit!)

Tomato-Tortellini Soup

2 14oz cans reduced-sodium chicken or vegetable broth

1 9oz package refrigerated or frozen tortellini (more if your babies are pasta hogs!)

4oz chive and onion cream cheese

1 10.75 or 11oz can condensed tomato or tomato bisque soup

In a medium saucepan, bring broth to boiling. Add tortellini; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. In a bowl, whisk 1/3 cup of the hot broth into the cream cheese until smooth. Return all to saucepan along with tomato soup; heat through. Makes 4 servings.

In other news I have been reading through Leviticus.. the idea of holiness has been running around in my brain. Read THIS definition.. I think it will get your head going. It did mine. I mean.. 16 years of being a Christian and I'm only figuring out holiness? Lawsie. I may write more about this later.

The switcharoo. Part 1

Nineteen weeks (probably more like 21 or so!) until #3 makes his or her debut. It's looking like my big brother is going to be staying with us for awhile and so we are in full swing in preparing the rooms for our little ones. Here is the plan. Right now Mo's room has all of his furniture.. the convertible bed, changing table and whatnot. We still want to have a place for guests (as in my brother!) to stay, and since his room is the largest we are turning his room into a nursery/guest bedroom. The current guest bedroom is being switched into a new big boy bedroom for Moses. I hope he loves it! He kinda loves his current room.. but I hope we can make the switch fun for him.

I tried to get pics of the guest bedroom before we took out the bed.. but the camera just wasn't cooperating. Here is the room as of this morning.

And for heaven's sake. What was I thinking when I picked out the fabric for the blackout shade? Eww! Kat is going to fix it for me this summer!

Here is Mo's current room. We gave Kat the bed from the guest bedroom and she gave us her bunk bed. That horrible rocking chair will hopefully be finding a new home... but it may just be put in Mo's room. It is nice to have a place to cuddle sick little people, after all.

Take two!

The thing I'm dreading the most? The closet switch. Oh man. Perhaps it will be a good opportunity to clean and organize! Speaking of which, the pantry is done! I will post pictures on Friday!

20 Week Ultrasound and Thomas the Train

We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday and I somehow managed to emerge without finding out if we are expecting a boy or a girl. Oh man. I cannot wait!

Both of my little sweeties are under the weather. We headed off to Walmart today to pick up some supplies and Moses spotted some Thomas the Train pj's. Normally I would say no.. but they were cheap and, well, they're pajama's. As in he will only sleep in them. As soon as we were in the car he snuggled them until we got home and he could wear them. So silly.

Here he is, modeling. He may look upset.. but he just really wants Sarah to be in the picture, too.

Things I love: Ruby Reds.

Today I have come face to face with my insufficiency as a mother.

Tired, frustrated, short sighted.

And trying, trying, trying to surrender to the Father and allow him to do through me what I cannot do on my own. Trying to remember that I want to sow the seeds of grace, tenderness and my time in my children. Knowing, also, that it is God himself that provides these seeds.

"Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness...."

2 Corinthians 9:10

Moses comes and leans against me as I play with Sarah on the ground.. I look at him and say, "Moses, I am sorry I'm not a better mama."

And my sweet boy looks at me and smiles, wraps his hands around my neck and kisses me. And I squeeze that little boy and thank God for his goodness to me.

Some days it feels like we're drowning in toys. Toys, toys, toys. In the toy box. Under the couch. Under the beds. Ev-er-y-where.

I mean, really.

So I have come up with a plan. I bought some crates from Walmart for $3 a piece and I divvy up the toys.

Here, we are divvy-ing.

I hide the extra toys in the closet and every few days I pull out a new crate and, voila!, "new" toys!

The midwife push, push, pushes on my tummy. "Susan, you're measuring really big" she says. " Then goes on to ask if I'm having twins.. and for the rest of the appointment referred to the babY and babIES. Ha. Ha. Ho. Ha. No, this isn't some announcement.. just a funny little story. I've had two ultrasounds and I have only seen ONE baby. I mean really, though, what am I going to look like at 40 weeks?!

We have been getting a hefty dose of life around here. There was one night, I'm a bit embarrassed to say.. the babies were both crying and if I got out of bed I would get sick.. again.

My response?

"God hates me."

I'm not kidding.

The scripture I had memorized?

Out the window.

The TRUTH I know?

Hidden in lies.

Then the sun rises and, as tends to happen in daylight, I was able to see things more clearly.

The truth? We have been promised trials, and we are told to consider them pure joy.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Diaper Rash Cream: The Big Guns

Hello all! A whole lot of life has been happening over here. Jeremiah's dear old grandfather passed away, my grandmother is in the ICU, our dear friend Mary is bravely fighting cancer, and in the midst of it all sweet Moses has had a stomach bug for the past 5 days. Five. Oh man. You may remember, this happened last year, too. We did not go in for IV's this time, thank heavens. I thought I would share our go-to diaper rash cream when things are really bad. You can get a prescription for it, but you can get the ingredients over the counter for the same cost as a $10 copay. All you need is some Ichthammol Ointment and Maximum Strength Desitin.

You can get the Ichthammol from you local pharmacy. It is kept behind the counter, but does not require a prescription.

(Why does blogger do this?)

And a tube of the good ol' standby.

You just put the Desitin in a small dish (that has a lid!) and heat it up for a few seconds, and then add the Ichthammol - which is pretty stinky stuff. We call it engine grease! Make sure the container you mix it in has a lid for storage! We just put it on the rash with a Q-Tip.

Well, today I had a pregnancy first. After a weekend of around the clock vomiting my midwife wanted me to go to urgent care for a bag of IV fluids and a dose of medicine given through the IV so it would be sure to work. My wonderful (really, she is the best) mother in law watched the babies and Jeremiah came to take me to the urgent care.

First, can I just say how hard it is to be the mom and wife I want to be (let alone friend, etc.) when I feel this way? I am just over 10 weeks pregnant so I have now been throwing up for 5 weeks straight, and it seems to just be getting worse and worse. There. Have. Been. Tears.

So anyway, we get to the urgent care and I let them know what the midwife wants and they start telling me how they "hope they can start an IV on me, do I have good veins, we don't do many in this small clinic.." WHAT? Not really the best thing to tell a woman that is so desperately wanting relief. Well, one blown vein later the x-ray tech (of all people) was able to get the IV in. One bag of fluids and two doses of phenergan later I was doing better, but was a little loopy. The doctor could not believe I was still nauseous, and I was rather disappointed. I threw up as soon as we got in the car. Lovely, eh? I really wanted to try to eat something so we picked up some Subway on the way home and I ate it and crashed as soon as I walked in the door. I slept for about three hours straight. Now we just hope that I can stay on top of the sickness and not have to get IV's regularly.

Please be praying for my little family. Moses and Sarah need a Mama. Jeremiah needs a wife. I need to survive. Also, would you pray that I could get relief in the middle of the night somehow? I sometimes wake up every two hours to throw up. I'm exhausted.

To end this rather uplifting blog entry (ha), here are some things I am so grateful for.

My husband that takes such good care of the babies and I.
My wonderful mother in law that is so generous with her time - the biggest gift she could give us right now.
Friends that check up on me.
God's grace to get through these tough, tough days.

Last week I got this recipe from Mo's pediatrician. She suggested it in place of "those cheesy crackers that are so bad for our babies." Yeah.. um.. my babies NEVER eat those ;)

I decided to whip up a batch when we got home to see if Moses really would love them. And, gasp, he does! I have made them both with the graham cracker and without and I like them much better without. If you do leave it out add more flax seed! If you want to take these out and about I would go ahead and add the graham crackers, they are a tiny bit sticky without it.

1/2 cup nut butter

1/3 cup powdered milk

1-2 T honey or agave nectar

1-2 T ground graham cracker

1-2 T ground flax seed

Combine all ingredients in a mixer and mix until combined. Then press into small balls with your fingers. Store in the refrigerator.

I had an ultrasound this week! This little one is due on July 30th, which probably means he or she won't be making his/her debut until mid-August! The morning sickness is in full swing over here, but we're hanging in and looking forward to, well, it stopping :) I'm trying to avoid the Unisome and B6 this go around - I'm just not sure I can handle all those sleeping pills with two little ones to care for! The Zofran helps for sure, but the side effects are pretty yucky and even while taking it I may get sick 6-7 time a day. The good thing about this time around is that I know it will end (even if it takes another 7 months) and I know just how sweet the reward is at the end!

We are so, so thrilled to be expecting again. Our little brood is growing, growing and we feel so blessed.. and a tad overwhelmed! I mean, Moses is only going to be about two and a half when the little one arrives. Wowza, three under two and a half. Keep us in your prayers :) We really have no idea when the little one is due, but we have an ultrasound on December 21 (less than three weeks now!) to find out. I keep reminding myself that I don't have to be ready for three yet - one day at a time, Hayes! We are also hoping for an easier pregnancy this time around, and that I can continue to nurse Sarah until she is one - only 5 more months!

There were so many wonderful things that happened while we were on vacation that I will probably never be able to cover it all. Blogging time is limited these day, so I will just put up what I can when I can!

I think I said it before, but Moses loved the ocean. He had such a great time playing in the water. The water was pretty calm at Dixie this day so we let him get up on the boogie board. He had a blast! He also had his first big wipe out - but he was a trooper and got right back out there.

I had to get a picture up of this little guy in his aloha outfit. He was just so.darn.cute.

I wish Moses was in this picture! Here is Miah, Sarah and Grandpa Ohst. This is David, the wonderful man that Moses gets his middle name from. We miss you, Grandpa!
Now that winter has really set in here in the four corners, I have really been missing sunny Hawaii! Sigh, until next year ;)
