Our week in Albuquerque!

We had such a lovely time catching up with friends and family in Albuquerque last week. Thank you to everyone who took time out to come and visit with us!

Fun visits with friends and family!

I am not keeping up with blogging about all the adventures we've been having! I'm just too busy 1.) soaking up Moses 2.) preparing for #2 3.) being a housewife. It is no small feat!

A couple weekends ago we ventured out to Colorado Springs to visit the wonderful Paxson family! It had been too long since we had seen each other and we had yet to meet the newest addition to their family. We had a lovely time catching up! On Saturday we ventured to Focus on the Family so the kids could play. These are the only pictures I have of our time there. You can read more and get Stacey's delicious soup recipe HERE. We also had a visit from Uncle Gary, Aunt Emma and cousin Leo. They flew in from England a few weeks ago and stopped by for lunch on their way back from skiing in Durango. I have never seen Moses warm up to people so quickly. He LOVED his cousin Leo!

It was so lovely to spend some time with them. I have already finished the chocolate they brought (why is English chocolate so much better?!) and I am ready for another visit :) Come back soon!!

Our trip to Albuquerque!!

We got back from Albuquerque yesterday. Moses was such a trooper. He slept the way there and back, for the most part, and when he was awake he would just play with his hands (his new favorite activity). He handled the lack of routine a lot better than I did, too! He was sleeping 8-9 hours at night pre-trip and now he is back to being a 3 hour man, but I'm sure that will change in the next week or so. We got to see so many of our friends and family, and yet there were so many we didn't get to visit with. We need weeks, not days, to catch up with everyone!! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us!

Moses and Aunti B. She is a lifesaver. She helped me with bath time that night and even showed up early Wednesday morning to help us get loaded up and on the road. And, of course, she re-stocked my coffee supply. We love Auntie B.

Moses seemed to enjoy his bath time. I rigged "Grandpa's" sink with a towel and some Burt's Bee's and it was almost as good as being at home!!

What trip would be complete without seeing the Wallace's?? Kate was sweet enough to get up early to see us off. Kai was sleeping :)

Last stop of the trip was to see the Macivor family!! Moses seemed pretty happy to be around a man again! He was pretty happy just hanging out with Duncan.

So, the girl who "fears" going to Bible study is headed to Albuquerque tomorrow. That's right, me, Mo and 3 hours of open road. I'm hoping if I leave early enough he will sleep through the trip....
Wish me luck! I hope to see some of you while we're in town. It's a short trip, we're heading home on Wednesday, but Grandma will be so thrilled. Pictures to come!!

Baby Classes!

Jeremiah and I spent Friday night and Saturday in Durango at Mercy Regional Hospital so we could take our birthing classes! On Friday night we learned (ie. the dads learned :) basic anatomy and our instructor, Maggie, answered questions for all the soon to be mama's and dad's. All together there were 12 sets of parents, all due within about 6 weeks of us. My interests lay more in where to go, what to do, what will happen. I seem to be somewhat Type A about all things baby related.

Once we wrapped up for the evening, Jeremiah and I headed to The Dollar Inn. Now, granted, we did choose to stay at the cheapest place we could find. Come to find out, we got exactly what we paid for! It. was. hilarious. First we got the key to an occupied room, so we almost became quite close with our neighbors. Then an oversight led us to a smoking room. Then we were given the key our sanctuary for the evening. Dirty sheets, trash on the floor, nasty bathrooms, and the sound of traffic to lull us to sleep. What more could a 36.5 week prego lady ask for? At least one of the beds were clean and we decided to just sleep. Easier said than done, but whatever! The next morning we headed over the office for our "continental breakfast" which was really some old donuts and a pot of coffee. Sigh, I took my joe and powdered donut and then we were off to our baby classes, all fueled up and ready to go!!

Saturday we watched some birthing videos (with lots of squirmy daddy's watching!!), learned about breastfeeding, did some communication worksheets to make sure mom and dad were on the same page, then we got to head up to the Family Birthing Center to check things out. We saw where to park, where to come in, the triage rooms, and the birthing rooms. We then headed over to the nursery. The nurses were lovely and I really felt at ease seeing what they were going to do to the little guy and knowing that Jeremiah would be with him the entire time.

Oh, and they have a special lactation room where mom's can return to the hospital and get some one on one help if any problems with breastfeeding come up. Very cool.

We ended the day by learning some laboring positions, pressure points, and whatnot.

The whole experience got me so excited for the big day! I may be some wacko, but I am so curious about what labor will be like. I am actually very excited about! It also helped the reality of a BABY to sink in a bit more. I kind of feel like I am just going through the motions and this weekend really helped it to all sink in. There is a POINT in all this prep! A sweet little bundle, who, thankfully, doesn't legally have to be named for 12 days after birth :)

Durango!!

Yesterday Miah took the day off and we went to DURANGO! The leaves are changing and it was just beautiful up there.

I cherish these quite moments with Miah and sometimes glance in the back seat where the little guy's carseat will be and think about the days to come that will be oh so different.
