Yuck. Ick. Eww.
So far there are very few things in motherhood worse than a sick baby. The crying, lack of sleep, no eating, oh, and did I mention projectile poo as I try to get a rectal temperature? (Sorry about that.) This was one of those things I was going to just ride out. Sure, he was fussy, seemed warm and I had changed a dozen diapers... but in the scheme of things Moses seemed okay. I called the pediatrician, however, when friend urged me to do so, and they asked me to bring him in right away because a rectal temperature of 102 meant it was really 103 and that was just too high. **Disclaimer: Moses' health is of prime importance!** As the nurse was telling me to come in, my mind immediately went to the fact that I was right in the middle of kneading bread, Moses had woke up early from a nap and was fussing in his crib and I had just got out of the shower about 15 minutes prior. Oh, and did I mention we had company coming for dinner and the pediatrician is an HOUR away? I did what any mom would do. I said I could be there in about 1 hour 45 minutes. I finished the bread and took it along so it could rise in the car and be punched when needed, set Moses in front of a video with a bottle and quickly tried to get ready. We made it with about 5 minutes to spare. Moses has a tummy bug, nothing more. No ear aches. No teething. All he needs is pedialyte, Tylenol and love. We made it home in time to get things ready before our guests arrived, dad had started dinner and Mo was feeling much better after some Tylenol and a bit of pedialyte. Okay, and a lot of PUPD (thank you Baby Whisperer!!). Poor little guy! Here's hoping we can all get some much needed rest and that Moses will wake up 100% in the morning!
