Pregnancy is Weird

(Warning, this update contains more info than you want to know.)

On Saturday I was standing in the kitchen making lunch and all of a sudden there was "water" all over the floor. Now, friends, just between you and I, I may have peed myself a little during this pregnancy. On occasion. This, however, was different. There was A LOT of water (or whatever). Our company had just left and both Moses and Jeremiah were napping when this happened. At first I was a bit taken back. Then I thought, "Oh man, I'm about to go into labor. This is really happening." I called the midwife; Mary Louise was on call, and she asked if I was still "leaking", but I wasn't. She said that there is another pocket of fluid that sometimes rests above your cervix, about 1 cup, and that if I did not continue to leak and I wasn't having contractions then that ruptured. I had never, ever heard this before. If it wasn't Mary Louise telling me this information I don't know if I would have believed her. And, well, I'm still pregnant so she must have been right. Pregnancy is weird. And a tease.

Our wonderful buddies, Stacey and Alex Paxson, came for a visit this weekend and it was so wonderful to spend time with them and their little people. Thank you guys for coming and distracting me from my lack of labor :) (Also, I forgot to mention that Stacey interviewed me on her blog last week! Click HERE if you're interested!)

The Back Yard

The good thing about my lack of labor was that we really made some headway on the back yard! We planted the grass seed and laid mulch along the back fence! We weren't able to start on the garden, but since it was supposed to SNOW on Sunday that's not too big of a deal!

The garden is going in the empty lot on the left. In time we will be able to put a swing set and a clothes line to the right of where we're hoping the grass will grow!

We were also able to plant our blueberry bushes and a few grape plants!

And, of course, the cutest little helper on the block!

And as for a little Moses update, this guy is loving his cars, trucks, and trains. The sound effects are pretty great, too!!

Two blogroll worthy blogs.

Once upon a time I went to college. In another life maybe. Also. I minored in African American Studies. It.was.awesome. Swahili classes! African lit classes! African politic classes with Professor Shunkuri.. gag :) Okay, but during those boring classes where I was forced to learn nearly TWO DECADES OLD information I was also given the chance to study and present a current political situation in Africa. All three times that I was fortunate enough to do this I chose the Sudan crisis. I joined the Save Darfur Coalition, wore "Save Darfur" t-shirts, organized, read, cried, prayed over this horrible thing that's happening right under our noses. Holocaust? We said never again. Rwanda? We said never again. Well, in Sudan it is happening again. It's so horrible and heartbreaking that it often overwhelms me. WELL. Imagine my delight when our friends, Stephen and Ginny Bracht, decided to move on over there (to Sudan, that is) and DO something. Granted, they aren't going on some peace keeping mission (per say), but it's a good thing they're doing and I wanted to let you all know about it. They are in the midst of fundraising and just started up a blog to keep us all updated. If you're interested, go check them out: http://brachtadventures.blogspot.com/. Also! My dear friend Stacey Paxson has a good thing going over at http://mymessylife.wordpress.com/. She is a SAHM with two little little people and she is so good about making every second with them count. She's all about being responsible with the earth and our bodies, scriptural living, and I think she's pretty funny too! She just put up an interview with the author of "Shoppers Guide to Healthy Living" and is having a little giveaway to go along with it. *Note* I had every intention of letting you all know about this before I knew I'd be getting giveaway credit for it! AND seeing how I already have this wonderful book, you'd better go on over there and try to win!

Fun visits with friends and family!

I am not keeping up with blogging about all the adventures we've been having! I'm just too busy 1.) soaking up Moses 2.) preparing for #2 3.) being a housewife. It is no small feat!

A couple weekends ago we ventured out to Colorado Springs to visit the wonderful Paxson family! It had been too long since we had seen each other and we had yet to meet the newest addition to their family. We had a lovely time catching up! On Saturday we ventured to Focus on the Family so the kids could play. These are the only pictures I have of our time there. You can read more and get Stacey's delicious soup recipe HERE. Be prepared for a picture of yours truly looking like a cheese ball.

We also had a visit from Uncle Gary, Aunt Emma and cousin Leo. They flew in from England a few weeks ago and stopped by for lunch on their way back from skiing in Durango. I have never seen Moses warm up to people so quickly. He LOVED his cousin Leo!

It was so lovely to spend some time with them. I have already finished the chocolate they brought (why is English chocolate so much better?!) and I am ready for another visit :) Come back soon!!

Lilli, sweet Lilli! My dear friend, Brittany Mirabal, has the sweetest little girl. Lil is Shepherd's big sis, do you remember Shepherd? He was born 9 days before Moses, and is destined to be Mo's BFF, and neighbor actually. We're building our house right across the street from these lovely folks. I would like to take some time today to share some "Lilli-ism's". The adults in her life should probably not mimic the things she says, but after I share some of these silly sayings I think you'll agree it's a lot more fun to be in her world!

Visitors!

This week Auntie Face and Ms. Kelli came for a visit. It was soo wonderful to see them! I have missed them terribly and it was about time they met Moses! I was sad their stay went by so quickly! Come back!!

Making friends.

Being a stay at home mom in a new town can bring many lonely days. The Lord has blessed me, though, with two sweet friends, Brittany and Bonnie. On Tuesday Moses and I went to Bonnie's house to do some yardwork. Moses was camped out with us in the front yard, lathered with sunscreen and lounging out under a big red umbrella. He slept most of the afternoon. He was just too cute for words!
Bonnie has a lovely niece, Bella, who is cute as a button. Bella is about to be a big sister so she was practicing her skills on her new friend "Nosis".
