Morning run with Moses

Almost every morning as soon as Moses wakes up he gets snuggles and a new diaper and then we're off to the river. We both get fresh air and I get some exercise.

Isn't it lovely?

We took a few of our maternity photos here!

Moses enjoys it as much as I do!

How does the garden grow?!

I hope you all aren't too sick of garden photos. I'm just amazed that things are growing! It seems like every seed we planted has produced two plants and each plant is producing multiple fruits! (fruits??) Several weeks ago I was talking with my grandma about the garden. Granny has always had a green thumb and this was her advice: "Darlin', just have faith in yourself and have faith in Gooood" (that would be God with a drawn out Southern drawl. What she really talking about the garden?
The strawberries are finally getting ripe! Next year I am planning on planting dozens and dozens of these . What good does two ripe berries do?

This cucumber was HUGE! The cucumber taste has been so much stronger in these. Sometimes almost bitter.
Butternut squash!

Have a happy Wednesday!

Mesa Verde, again!

Last week we were blessed to have Cris come and stay with us. Meghan and Jacob Black came to visit us on Friday and Saturday, and the Bracht's stopped by for lunch on Sunday. It was so wonderful to see so many old friends! On Saturday we, Cris, and the Black's went to Mesa Verde. I love these kinds of outings! Enjoy the photos!!

The last time we went to Mesa Verde...

This time!!

Mo's favorite place to hangout...

Mo's first picnic. Please take note that they have the same expression on their face!

So.. to bring water, or not to bring water?

Water it is! Dehydration is the #1 cause of daytime fatigue, after all.

I just can't get over this place.

Happy family break!

More fun on dad's shoulders!!

We were ALL exhausted at the end of this day!!

Hope you all had a great weekend, too!

Four Years Ago Today..

..we became the Hayes'...
So to celebrate we went to Kennebuc Cafe and enjoyed a delicious lunch...
Miah cares less about photos and more about eating...
I love this guy more today...

... and it all started with this little letter that Jeremiah left my step-mom...

The important parts read:
PS: Susan is beautiful! You ought to give me her email or something... Ha! What would we do without you moms?
P2S: And she sounds pretty awesome, too.
I am so glad he asked, and that she obliged! What a lovely life we're leading!

Sick little Moses.

Yuck. Ick. Eww.
So far there are very few things in motherhood worse than a sick baby. The crying, lack of sleep, no eating, oh, and did I mention projectile poo as I try to get a rectal temperature? (Sorry about that.) This was one of those things I was going to just ride out. Sure, he was fussy, seemed warm and I had changed a dozen diapers... but in the scheme of things Moses seemed okay. I called the pediatrician, however, when friend urged me to do so, and they asked me to bring him in right away because a rectal temperature of 102 meant it was really 103 and that was just too high. **Disclaimer: Moses' health is of prime importance!** As the nurse was telling me to come in, my mind immediately went to the fact that I was right in the middle of kneading bread, Moses had woke up early from a nap and was fussing in his crib and I had just got out of the shower about 15 minutes prior. Oh, and did I mention we had company coming for dinner and the pediatrician is an HOUR away? I did what any mom would do. I said I could be there in about 1 hour 45 minutes. I finished the bread and took it along so it could rise in the car and be punched when needed, set Moses in front of a video with a bottle and quickly tried to get ready. We made it with about 5 minutes to spare. Moses has a tummy bug, nothing more. No ear aches. No teething. All he needs is pedialyte, Tylenol and love. We made it home in time to get things ready before our guests arrived, dad had started dinner and Mo was feeling much better after some Tylenol and a bit of pedialyte. Okay, and a lot of PUPD (thank you Baby Whisperer!!). Poor little guy! Here's hoping we can all get some much needed rest and that Moses will wake up 100% in the morning!

Things are growing!!

Here are a few pictures of what is happening in the garden! I wish some of you lived closer so I could share!
Here's our summer squash! There are so many plants, each with multiple squash growing!

A biggie!
The beans and beats are really getting big!

Decorative gourds!

There is more lettuce than we could ever eat! We cut it and leave 2 or 3 inches and by the next week it is ready to be cut again! That's broccoli on the far right.
It's time to stake the beans!

Tomatoes!
Cucumbers!
More lettuce and our mystery gourds..
Happy summer!

Lilli is so funny!

Moses thinks Lilli is hilarious. He was cracking us up!

What's new with the Mo-man.

There has been a whole lot of change around here! Moses is growing so fast I can hardly believe it!
Sitting in the cart like a big boy!
Hanging out in the "pool" with Mama!
Sitting up! He is trying so hard! He is figuring out how to use his hands for balance.

Riding on Dad's shoulders! Mo's new favorite thing!

Tummy sleeping! This is only cute when he settles in successfully and not when he wakes up multiple times in the middle of the night needing help!

Moses and Shepherd hanging out while we checked on things at our house this weekend. I have a feeling there will be much, much more of this!

Just posting all of these pictures made me realize how quickly my sweet baby boy is growing! I am trying to relish all of our moments - time is moving too fast!!
