A question for the mom's out there!

So, I have the list of what to pack for the hospital, but I am wondering if there was anything that you mom's out there didn't pack that you wish you would have. Whether it was for you, the dad or the baby. And, when did you have your bag packed? When did you have the car seat installed??
Inquiring minds want to know!

Hey Suz! These are the items I forgot...cheap pair of flip flops for the shower and a nursing tank top to pair with pj pants. A friend of mine took her boppy to help with nursing too. Hope that helps!

Suz--I agree with sarah, and would add that dark pj pants are the best. For sure, bring a light robe to wear at the hospital, and I usually make sure I have a few options for clothes to go home in for me and baby--you just never know. You might want to have snacks and gatorade packed for hubby as sometimes they just need a little extra boost! They usually have a sample of lansinoh for you, but you may want to invest in a little tube yourself...and be prepared to buy some "overnight" feminine products (ahem, since the ones they give you at the hospital are wacky.) Is this too much info?!

Hi Susan, I don't know if you remember me- Becky Marshall (was Salzbrenner) from high school. I found your blog on Sarah's site, and thought I'd say congratulations! We just had a little boy August 21, and he's a blast! Anyway, in the hospital we brought our computer, but wished we would have brought some DVDs to watch that night and the next morning in the recovery room. There isn't a whole lot to do, and not much good on tv. Also I would make sure to bring lots of food for both of you. They only brought us one meal (for me) and it definitely was not the best (to be nice) so we were both starving by the time we checked out. That's my advice! Hope you're doing great! Take Care, Becky

SUSAN!!! All great suggestions above however we took way too much stuff to the hospital. I think if you have a bag of snacks, your camera/video camera, and comfy clothes to wear you'll be set. Slippers are a must plus I hate being in the hospital gown so I wore my own spaghetti tank and shorts until I was in bed for good...I felt more comfortable in my own clothes. Some people find music relaxing so you can always pack your Ipod with speakers...but that just drove me nuts :0)! I liked the feminine stuff at the hospital b/c I didn't worry about any of my stuff getting trashed. OH! I was really glad I brought my own pillow...hugs!!!

Well Susan you've got quite a bit of advise, for me having my ipod with relaxing music is what got me through, that was a MUST HAVE for me. The other thing was a pacifier that's to each their own and the hospital may have that, they just didn't in Italy. That helped Keely during the nighttime when we were there. Hope that helps.

Looks like you got alot of advice but I thought I'd add mine too just in case you missed something. I REALLY over packed and regretted it so try to keep it to the basics, it's not fun to lug all that stuff back out of the hospitial along with a new born baby! Best thing I brought was my boppy (breast feeding pillow) it was a lifesaver! Also I brought some granny underwear to wear after, with those big pads the hospital gives you it helps and you don't want to mess up your good ones. I would say maybe a pen and folder, they give you SO SO much paperwork and make you fill out so much it's over whelming, it's nice to keep it all straight. Also snacks for you guys. And some slippers and maybe a sweatshirt for your hubby. Chris was freezing in the hospital and that's like the ONLY thing I didn't bring! Other than that just basic toiletries and ofcourse the camera! Happy packing!! That's the best part! I think I was packed a month and a half in advance! lol
